Interior Design Email Marketing: Subject Lines Ideas

Email marketing is a powerful tool for interior design and home decor businesses. Not only does it build an audience that you have control over (you can easily backup all your data unlike social media), but it creates consistency in your business and helps clients build trust before working with you.

Email newsletters display your expertise, plus they help spread the word about your latest projects and past client testimonials. It’s the perfect way to keep both existing clients and potential clients updated on all that's happening.

Email continues to be one of the most profitable digital marketing channels available in 2022, so if you aren’t already growing your audience and emailing them regularly, now is the time to start!

What is email marketing and why is it important?

Email marketing is a crucial part of your business strategy. It’s used to make clients aware of your latest news, services, products, offers, etc. by landing directly into their inbox.

It’s a great way to build community, and it allows you to have better control of your contacts. Unlike social media channels where your following could technically disappear at any time as everything is controlled by a third party.

Emails are the perfect tool to build customer loyalty and it's great for client retention.  It can play a powerful role in lead generation and brand awareness too! Keeping your clients engaged, even when they are not buying is really important.

Now if you’re ready to start emailing, we’re sharing below examples of subject lines to help increase engagement and to get people curious about your work.

Examples of subject lines to increase engagement

Your headline, also known as the subject line, is what will make people click on your email, ignore it, or put it straight in the trash. This is an element of email marketing that many people fail to consider, it’s often rushed and can create uninteresting copy that people don’t engage with.

PRO TIP: Pay attention to how YOU use your inbox, which emails do you typically click on and which ones do you discard?

Some tips for creating a captivating subject line include:

  • Use wording and language specific to your readers (don’t overcomplicate it)

  • Use question words, for example, why, what, when, and how.

  • Use ‘trigger words’ such as easy, free, exclusive, special, simple

  • Use numbers where you can

Here are some examples of how you could use all of the above ideas:

  • Why lighting can make or break a room.

  • How to make your bedroom feel more luxurious in 5 easy steps

  • Japandi style - what is it? Free ‘how to’ PDF inside

  • When is the best time to invest in a new mattress?

  • Where is the best place to find affordable ‘xyz’

Combining a couple of these tips together helps to create a catchy headline that people want to click on. You want to be sharing real value with them. Solving their problems, and making interior design accessible for them.

Don’t forget about preview lines

Once you have your subject line, the next step is the write the preview line. This essentially leads to people wanting to read further. You’re teasing your audience. Both your subject line and preview line together need to connect, be readable, and evoke curiosity for the reader.

You may want to summarise what the email contains, or preview the first line of the email. You want to share more context than the subject line, but not give too much away. Include relevant keywords that your ideal client would be attracted to.

Another tip? Use the reader's name in the preview text. This will help to boost your open rates as it adds a sense of personability.
