The 5 People You Need In Your Life and Your Business

As motivational speaker Jim Rohn said “we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with”. We are indeed very influenced by our environment and the people around us – that means that they influence what we do, what we think of different subjects and what we think of ourselves, they influence our believes, our desires, our daily life activities, and so on.

Whether we like it or not our environment has a way bigger impact on our life that we may think. The good news is that being aware of it means that we can positively influence ourselves by surrounding ourselves with the right type of people.

In order to be more successful in our life and in our business there are some type of people you will want to hang out with more and on the contrary some people you might need to take some distance from.

1.       The dreamers

Being around people who have big plans for their life and career will make you want to dream bigger and pursue higher goals.

Why is it important to dream big?

In order to get anything done you must first really want it and imagine it. How are you going to have amazing experiences in your life if your dreams are limited in the first place? By being around other people that aren’t scared to dream big you will get into the habit of picturing yourself with that job you first wouldn’t think you were capable of getting, wanting that big promotion that seemed impossible to get, having a salary raise without becoming a workaholic. Dreaming and visualizing theses big goals are the first step to actually reach them!

2.       The doers & hard workers

More than just dreamers, get close to people who are making it happen and who are obtaining tangible results. It is great to being able to dream but getting stuck in your dreams is a very common blockage. Stop waiting for the perfect moment and start acting now. Regular small actions are going to be more impactful than one big action that takes years to implement. Get started and get started now. Stop procrastinating. Surrounding yourself with people that aren’t waiting around but actually doing will act as a great motivation for you to go for it as well!

Having a successful business won’t come overnight and yes it will ask you to put in the work. Being in an environment where people understand your hard work and won’t distract you from your goals and instead being with people making things happen will be a great motivation and will push you to go the extra mile.

3.       Positive people

Don’t give too much importance to negative people that have an opinion on everything that you are doing. Don’t feel like you need to share everything about your dreams and projects because their negative comments will drag you down and set you back into the realization of your project. Positive people on the other side will be a great support when you need a little bit of motivation or when you feel proud and want to share your wins. Positive people aren’t unrealistic they just have a different outlook on things and being surrounded by optimistic thinkers will motivate you and keep you going when time is a bit harder instead of giving up.

4.       Responsible people

Do you have that friend that is always complaining about how the world is against him/her? Once you are stuck into this mindset it is really hard to even see the positive things happening in your life and instead just focus on the negative. Being with people who take responsibilities for what happens in their lives and ask themselves what they could have done better to avoid this situation next time is going to be very empowering and will teach you to do the same as well. Failing in that environment isn’t a problem anymore as it is seen as a learning experience.

This will push you to grow, take actions and move forward faster.

5.       Your potential customers

If you are launching a new product or starting a business, make sure to really understand the people you want to serve. What are their fears, problems, pain points? What are they excited about? Where do they go during their free time? Spend time in their environment and really understand what they are looking for. This will tremendously help you to perfect your product or service and to communicate about that product to them as well in a productive way.

Surround yourself with people who support you and motivate you. People who have your best interest in mind. When hanging out with friends ask yourself afterward how you feel about yourself, about your project, how is your general energy level. Those are great indicators to see if that person has a positive or negative impact in your life. It doesn’t mean you have to get rid of everyone who isn’t aligned to your goals but be conscious of it and decide who you are going to spend the most of your energy with. Remember, where your focus goes, your energy flows.
