5 Steps to Turn Your Website Into an Online Shop

Do you currently have a website but you feel like you are missing on opportunities to close sales? Are you ready to turn it into an online shop? Then this is exactly for you!

2020 has definitely seen a boom in e-commerce sites and customers have been enjoying all the benefits of online shopping. In other words… your customers are ready for you! Having an e-commerce website is going to help you diversify your sales and convert prospects into clients more easily.

So if you haven’t already, now is the time to upgrade your website into an e-commerce platform and start making more sales! Use the following 5 steps to make the best out of it.

  1. Explain clearly your offers

Before getting their credit cards out, your customers need to clearly understand what they are purchasing.

Whether you sell a service or a product, make sure to have a clear description that explains what your offer is, who it is for, what it entails. Share also more technical aspects, how to best use the product/service. Don’t be afraid to go into details!

Take the customer into a journey where they will have plenty of information to picture themselves using your service or product.

2. Have professional pictures

A website is highly visuals. Having professional pictures is going to be a key element in converting visitors into customers.

Plan a photoshoot to have pictures of your offering as well as headshots of yourself.

You don’t need to have 100 pictures available right away. You can also use websites such as Unsplash to get beautiful free pictures for your site.

3. Add clear call-to-actions

A call-to-action is a button that invites visitors to take the next step. It could be a “shop now”, “buy now”, “add to your wishlist”, “contact me for more information”. Each call-to-action must be strategically placed on the website based on what you are excepting them to do.

Make sure the call-to-actions are clear and user-friendly for both desktop and mobile usage.

4. Include testimonials

Testimonials from previous customers help visitors to better understand if this offer is for them and to also trust you more. This is a big social proof that can really be a decisive factor and help you make a sale.

If you are launching a new offer and you don’t have any testimonials yet, ask your friends or acquaintances to test your product or service for free in exchange for their feedback and testimonials.

5. Set up follow-up emails

You can set-up many different automated emails to help you make a sale. To start we recommend you to at least start with these two:

  • Abandoned Cart Email: You will be surprised to see the number of people placing items in their cart without never finishing their order. Maybe they got distracted or they started having doubts. Set up your abandoned cart email automation to reach out to these people as they are considered as “hot leads”. Remind them about the article they left in their cart and why they should get it.

  • Thank You For Your Purchase Email: this email will go out directly after they placed their order on your site. You can add more information about how to best use the product or service, add other products or services they might like too, how to contact you, as well as your different social media handles so they can easily follow you
