How To Get Raving Reviews for Your Interior Design Business
Reviews are extremely important for your business.
They help increase your sales, turn potential customers into buying customers, boost traffic on your website, gain people’s trust and improve your credibility as a company.
In today’s online world, we are flooded with offers from different companies. Customers have a hard time making purchasing decisions because there are too many options available.
One way a company can stand out in front of competitions is by using the power of reviews. Potential customers love to rely on the opinions of previous customers to make their decisions. It’s like a recommendation from a friend. It’s not the company trying to sell you something, it’s someone else sharing their experience with another potential customer.
So now that we understand how important getting raving reviews is, how do we get them?
1. Take good care of your customers
The first important step to get raving reviews is to provide extraordinary services and take good care of your customers! Your customer’s experience isn’t just about the work you are providing to them. It also includes all the in-between moments and the way you make them feel. As an interior designer, of course, the design project needs to be impeccable. But not just that. The entire relationship you have with your customers also needs to stand out.
Make sure to make your customers feel cared for and listened to.
You could send them a surprise care package once you are done with their project, or a thank you note. You could also send them a birthday card or a housewarming gift.
By building an actual relationship with your customers, not only will it be more enjoyable for you to work with them, but you will also leave them with a memorable experience. They will want to support your business by writing you a raving review and by referring your services to their friends and family.
What could you improve in your current process to make your customers feel more special and not just like a source of income to you?
2. Define your preferred review platform
Before asking for it, you need to know where and how you will use the reviews. This will impact the format of the review. Is it a video testimonial, is it a written review on social media, is it a service review for your website, etc.
We recommend making the reviews part of your marketing strategy. Having a plan for it will help you make sure you get what you actually need and you get the best results from it.
3. Ask
When you have a good relationship with your customers and a plan to use the reviews, then it’s time to ask.
Yes, it’s time to get over the fear of asking and just go for it! We know this can feel like a burden for some of you but remember that asking is the best way to get what you want and you’ll be surprised by how much people want to help you! And the worst that can happen? They say no and you ask someone else.
When you ask, make sure to talk about how important it is for businesses like yours to get reviews. Educate them on the subject, they might have never thought of it this way. People who don’t have their own businesses don’t necessarily think that these kinds of things can really make a difference.
4. Make it easy for them
When asking, make it super easy for them to respond yes. If you want to set up a quick video interview with them, give them a link to your calendar so they can book it right away. If you have a few questions to ask them, send a questionnaire they can answer right away.
Keep in mind that some people might not be as comfortable writing a review. Offer them to just send bullet points of what they want to include and let them know you will write it for them and send it for approval before publishing it.
Keep it simple for them to give you their feedback!
5. Automatize & personalize the request
Automatize the request as much as possible by writing templates, setting up reminders, etc. But make sure to also leave room for personalization! When receiving a personalized request your customers will be more likely to respond positively.
6. Thank them
Remember that everyone leaving you a review has taken the time to do it. So thank them for their time and efforts. If they left it on a social platform, respond publicly to it as well.
7. No answers? Follow up
Don’t be afraid to follow up on your requests after a week or two if you haven’t heard anything back. Kindly remind them of your request and ask them if there is anything you can assist them with (like writing it for them) or if there is anything they would like to talk about before providing you with the review.
This process becomes a part of your brand. The way you treat your customers from the beginning to the end matters. Learn more about the importance of having a brand here.
